On the 1st of December some of my work, along with work by Rebecca Marrs and Carl Garner was shown and discussed in the Shaun Project space within the University of Sunderland.

The work I had submitted was part of my preliminary/experimental work which focused on abstract gestural marks and layering. Like the preliminary work I had decided to show, Carl Garner's work focused on abstract gestural marks. These were created mainly using inks and darker colours, creating more subtle movement yet greater contrast with a white ground. Something to think about when creating my own abstract work, as I have mainly used bright colour and thick paint. More subtle marks and materials may be more effect when creating grounds on which to paint or draw.

Rebecca Marrs' work focused on parts of the human body, specifically orange felt legs and small heads carved from polystyrene. I liked the use of found materials and the primitive way in which the heads were carved, something which I may try in the future. Almost creating 3D versions of my drawings.

Below are pictures of the work by Carl Garner and Rebecca Marrs, along with my own work in the Shaun project space.
