Large Scale Collage

After looking into collage and mixing with paint in my sketchbook, then creating large scale abstract grounds, I have now added printed imagery and mixed media drawing materials to these grounds, creating my first large scale portraits. I focus on many individuals when looking for images, in particular writers and musicians I am interested in. In an attempt to make portraits that express them and their ideas. For these large pieces I chose images of Charles Bukowski and Elvis Presley. They were slightly edited, then printed and modified by being painted and drawn upon before then being added to the collage/painted grounds. Overall these peices I feel are effective and the painted marks contrast well with the flat printed image, giving it more depth through use of layering, and more energy and motion through use of paint, marker and pastel among other materials.
