After working in my sketchbooks with abstract painting and collage, I have begun to recreate the processes I have explored on a larger scale. The Images below show large scale abstract painting using acrylic (painted on wooden board, 120cm x 120cm). These paintings have mixed together mark making techniques inspired by Kline and Richter, along with techniques I accidentally stumbled across but found to be effective, such as dry brushing and using strong contrast with colour.

These images show further experimentation with collage. Mixing paint, drawing materials, and recreating this outside of my sketchbook on canvas:

This will be mixed with the abstract grounds above. Hopefully adding motion and depth to flat images, found in magazines, ripped layered on top of one another.

One artist that has been influential regarding my collage work has been Jacques Villegle. He uses found posters that are layered on top of each other, ripped layers creating texture and movement, along with contrast between layers, overall creating something very visually stimulating and interesting. Something which could be combined with my abstract and portraiture work. Shown below by Villegle are Rue Metro Republique & Rue Saint Georges Saint Lazare (1963, paper collage, images from blogspot.com)
